My master thesis is about a renovation project of a school, which is part of a site built at the end of the 80’s in the suburbs of Rome (“Tufello” district). The whole site was meant to accommodate an education centre consisting of several buildings, each of them hosting a different school, from grade to high school.I focused my attention on the interior spaces, which were originally designed following ‘old-fashioned’ aesthetic rules based on a homogeneous space distribution rather than educational principles originating from children’s needs. In addition I kept the principles of energetic refurbishment in mind during the design, in order to improve the energy efficiency class of the building.
